These entries are too easy
Sociology Is Anthropology for Slackers.
And to prove it, here's everyone's favorite philosophe to entertain you, my roomate!
I have 3 exclusive, never before seen papers written for his 100-level Sociology class. In case you missed my previous entries, here's the deal: my roomate is not a good writer. He's a Junior (or, at least in his third year), and he has a 6th-8th grade writing level.
It's pretty clear his Sociology professor gave him a template to follow, as all these papers are structured the same way. I'll mock one a day, because that will mean more good entries and fewer bullshit entries. Remember that everything in bold or large font is my own addition. None of the errors in his papers are mine, as I have copied the text files directly.
As I was reading through the book Privilege, Power, and Difference, I became truly interested in chapter three. Truly. In Chapter three, Allen Johnson very wisely (Very wisely.) brought out the issue of privileges due to your race, and whether you are heterosexual or not. It's wise to "bring out" the topics you're writing on. Someone could learn something, here.
As I was reading this particular chapter I became extremely interested Shouldn't it be "X-tremely"? in what Johnson was saying about Speed Racer privileges. "The Trouble is produced by a world organized in ways that encourage people to use difference to include or exclude, reward or punish, credit or discredit, elevate or oppress, value or devalued, leave alone or harass" (Johnson 19). The information that I thought the author, Allen Johnson I forgot his name was trying to get across to us was the fact that the world is organized to encourage people to classify people in by their race as well as there sex. There! Sex! Duck and cover! He also brought out a good point of this by including James Baldwin's text in this chapter. Like how I bring out a good point of problems with our education system by including this text in this entry. When he pointed out the fact that no one was black or white before they came to the America. Really, we just made it all up. I, Robot true statement that proves this And this does prove it, beyond the shadow of a doubt is when James mentioned "A black women from Africa does not know she is black, she does not see skin color, she sees herself as an African yes but not as a black woman" (Johnson 21). Color is a societal construct. I haven't the words.
I felt that Johnson has hit the nail right on the head when he says that there or here? gender privileges, as well as race privileges. "Hitting the nail on the head" = Stating the obvious. I have caught myself putting people in these certain gender categories. For instance, some times I feel myself wanting to help woman All of them, apparently do certain jobs, because they look to physical Pronoun confusion + adjective confusion = Kingly bulge? for them to do, and this the problem that Johnson is addressing in this chapter. I have also be yourself! on the other side of the stick This idiom comes from an old game called "Stick Rasslin'" as well have been put in a certain category just because I am a different race the someone else. If you don't watch out, the someone else will get you. This is a real problem that goes on in everday situations, and just does not happen to black people it is very big problem amongst whites too. I have this problem. People see my shaggy hair and pale skin and automatically think, "Oh, he's a gaming nerd." And... wait, they're right.
I think that this read Is an "ing" so hard to type? relate very much to what we are talking about in the course. Mostly because it was assigned reading for this chapter. In this course we are talking about the different social groups. There's blacks, Jews, Mexicans, Cyborg chickens... This reading shows us the different social groups that are formless and void and how they are form. Social groups only made up of white people because they are white or social groups made up of black people because they are black. I tried to make fun of this sentence, but I got lost.
One time he came in while I was trying to sleep. I was listening the the Velvet Underground. He didn't turn the music off, he just sat through it. That made my day.
More tomorrow! And the next day! Stay tuned.
